INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 1 MARCH 2016
Capital Works Projects
Road repairs at Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Centre
Over the last reporting period Stage One road repairs were successfully completed around the
weighbridge at the entrance to the Eumundi Road Resource Recovery Centre. Stage Two will be
carried out in the 2016-17 financial year.
Shade Cover
A shade cover has now been installed over the mattress processing area used by Briteside staff.
Commissioning of Cell 2.2
Cell 2.2 is a fully lined cell, engineered to contain and collect all generated leachate and
discharge it to sewer. This is fully compliant with Council’s environmental licence and reflects
current best environmental practice to control risks to surrounding ground and surface waters.
At the time of writing WMS officers were preparing to move into Cell 2.2 in the last week of
February. The Cell has been prepared and leachate collection lines have been checked and
serviced to ensure that waste water can be effectively drained to the interconnecting leachate
network at Cell 2.1. A confining layer of general household waste will be laid over the drainage
medium to protect the landfill liner system, while larger “bony” waste will continue to be disposed
of at the currently used Cell 1.1. When the confining layer is completed Cell 2.2 will receive all
waste. Space has been left at Cell 1.1 to receive waste in the case of an emergency (e.g.
cyclone).
2016-17
A comprehensive Capital Works Plan for 2016-17 consisting of seven separate projects has been
prepared by WMS for consideration in the 2016/17 budget process.
