INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 1 MARCH 2016
5. Future Direction
Waste Services will now await feedback from Council and the public on its draft Waste
Reduction and Recycling Plan. This will form the basis of its future waste reduction and
recycling direction for the next eight years.
It is anticipated that tender specification documents will be produced in the next few
months and WMS will then move into the tendering phase for the next waste collection,
disposal and resource recovery contracts in approximately July 2016.
Operationally the next few months in disposals will be dedicated to commissioning the new
waste Cell 2.2 at the Eumundi Road landfill.
The next phase of Council’s Towards Zero Waste strategy will see WMS working with local
schools on sustainable waste management practices and engaging the public to promote
to voluntary uptake of green waste bins.
