MCU12/0184 Submission - Denis Donohue
Subject: MCU 12/0104 From: Denis Donohue Date: 2014-08-28T06:02:45+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail A response opposing the above application for the construction of a Ridgewood Broiler Farm. My home is located within sight of the property contained in this application. The property’s current degraded condition demonstrates that the owner’s previous attempts at operating different rural enterprises here have been unsuccessful. I believe that when: * an unsuccessful rural-business track record, is combined with * a lack of experience in large scale broiler farm operations, is further compounded by * the inherently unsuitable location for a broiler farm the most likely outcome is another failed rural enterprise but this time on a much larger scale. This potential downside in financial and environment costs to the Cooroy community and its Council cannot possibly be offset by any significant community gain. All the promises of future ‘best practices’ to mitigate odour, dust, noise and traffic problems lack any creditability when the current state of the applicant’s property demonstrates little regard for best practice management. History may not be a perfect predictor of the future but it sure is a good guide. Please do not approve this application. Regards, Denis Donohue 904 Cooroy-Belli Creek Road, Ridgewood
