To all the Councillors,

6th December 2013

1) We are within sight 1km direct line neighbours since 1987 on this property. We have been subject to spray drift from the spraying of first the mangoes now replaced with Avocadoes, and are aware of the high potential if not definite dust and aerosol hazards from a this Poultry Farm ( a FACTORY – 250,000 fowls bred up every 6 (six) weeks about 2,000,000 yes about 2 million a year). This proposal is a possible problem in the area of HEALTH for residents in the area and will be ever after that, with long term affects on their health especially with residents with lung problems and then the high potential for residents developing lung problems who do not have them now. Not to forget the high probability of NIGHT NOISE causing lack of sleep impacting on residents health and work capacity. Probable CONTAMINATION of our water tanks (only form of drinking water) from fallout and Black fellow Creek water way.

2) THE ROAD ACCESS a) through Cooroy b) Belli Creek Road c) Old Ceylon Road d) dirt surfaced Top Forestry Road are known to be HAZARDOUS BY THEIR WINDING NATURE, SHARP BENDS AND POOR FORWARD VISIBILITY. This route is well known by residents and police to be dangerous. There may not be statistically significant accident data but there are many unrecorded “NEAR MISSES” already without the expected increase in traffic with big trucks. these roads should not be traversed by trucks, semi trailers and especially double B’s on a regular basis.

3) The steep TOPOGRAPHY of this site is NOT APPROPRIATE for an industry such as intensive poultry (broiler) production. IT IS PRIMARILY WELL MANAGED GRAZING, TREE CROPPING OR FORESTRY LAND as it is subject to intense rainfall and erosion and run off!! My background is agricultural extensive officer in PNG, Cotton Farmer Ord River W.A., Fruit and Vegetable farmer Townsville district, Avocado Grower at Woombye.

We appeal to ALL Councillors to consider the above mentioned factors and REJECT or at least defer this PROPOSAL. We understand that these FACTORS HAVE ALREADY been CONSIDERED AND REASONED by the COUNCILS OWN OFFICERS for REJECTION.
