GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 17 MARCH 2025
Landscaping
Council’s Senior Environment Officer has reviewed the plans and notes that limitations to the height
of vegetation is unavoidable due to the presence of overhead powerlines along the Diyan and
Blakesley Street frontages. Smaller Energex safe trees will need to be investigated at the
Operational Works stage.
Areas exists within the property boundary to incorporate small trees and shrubs to buffer and soften
the appearance of the development when viewed from the street. Additional landscape vegetation
has been conditioned along the western boundary to assist in the screening and buffering of the
Woolworths building.
All vegetation is required to be assessed by an arborist and protected where possible. Significantly
large Eucalypt species are currently present within the car park and several of these trees are in
poor health and will require further assessment. Conditions have been included requiring the
replacement of removed trees with species native to the locality.
A feature tree and understorey planting has been conditioned to be provided in the southeastern
corner of the site (Poinciana Avenue and Diyan Street) consistent with the framework plan which
details this area as a key corner.
