Step 5: Determination of Bushfire Attack Level (BAL)
Refer to Table 2.4.5 for FDI 50
Using the relevant table determine the Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) for each of the vegetation classifications
determined at Step 2, the distance from the site determined at Step 3 and the effective slope determined at
Step 4.

Select the highest Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) obtained above.

With all these situations considered and an assessment under the Australian Standard AS 3959 I
consider this site to be a BAL – 12.5

The site has minimal vegetation within the proximity of the structure for bushfire and clearing is
continuing on site so this development can be classified as BAL – 12.5 Bushfire Hazard.
