 Time poor consumers are increasingly seeking access to shops and services 24-hours a
day such as supermarkets, gyms, cafes, fast food, medical services and service stations.

Fast Food

 Approximately 70% of sales at a typical quick service restaurant are now at the drive-
       through window according to Urbis.

 The fast-food and takeaway industry has undergone a change in recent years with a shift
towards healthier lifestyles and higher consumer awareness about the nutritional content
of food. This has resulted in the major fast food operators modifying their menus as well
as the entrance of new concepts catering to this market.

 Demand for fast food has been supported by growth in disposable incomes, as well as
tighter economic conditions which has reduced spending on ‘fine dining’ and increased
spending at fast-food and ‘fast-casual’ stores which provide a more value oriented
       opportunity for eating out.

 Newer fast food operators are responding to the changing palate for food to include more
international flavours such as sushi, burritos, stir fry noodles and kebabs. Some of these
newer operators such as Zambrero’s, Oporto, Beefy’s, Gloria Jean’s and Zarraffa’s have
also added drive-through service, often co-locating with a service station as opposed to
the traditional stand-alone pad site. “Australia’s cosmopolitan society has evolved in
response to our changing demographics, with a fusion palate that is equally comfortable
with chops and chips, as with green chicken curry and basmati rice.’’ – Woolworths Trolley
