Cooroy Service Station EIA 21_06_16
Attached to the e-mail MCU16/0066 & OPW16/0133 - Economic Impact Assessment.
Analysis of microdata from the 2015 Motor Vehicle Census reveals that there were some
9,021 registered road based motor vehicles which operated on petrol, diesel or LPG within
the Cooroy postal area (4563).
4.4 IMPLICATIONS
The Cooroy area is characterised by a mix of working families with primary school aged children
and older persons including retirees and the aged, typical of the Noosa Shire area. The majority
of the working population is commuting to access employment opportunities outside of the
Cooroy area.
With high levels of motor vehicle ownership amongst Cooroy households, this community would
have an above average propensity for demand for fuel retailing and auto service facilities in
particular. Importantly, approximately 95% of working persons utilise a private motor vehicle as
their primary method of transport for work.
The Cooroy community would be frequent vehicle users, likely to generate above average
kilometres travelled in meeting the needs of the household and therefore have an above average
propensity for demand to access service stations.
