Dear Mayor and Councillors,

As a local ratepayer I am writing in support of the Eco Cottages development proposal at 55 Carpenters Road Cooroy – MCU 22/0039. I ask the Noosa Council to acknowledge my support.

This development proposal meets Noosa Council's strategy  in that it's ecologically sound and provides a step in the right direction for affordable housing for those most in need. It will deliver significant ecological, social, economic and community benefits.

The project includes 13 two-bedroom and 20 one-bedroom sustainable high-quality small homes on individual allotments which will only be sold/leased to not-for-profit organizations and approved registered community housing providers in perpetuity. Each site will be landscaped and partially fenced for security, privacy, child safety and pet containment and will be connected to a solar microgrid. The project will provide liveable places through good design that incorporates universal and biophilic design, providing dwellings for those suffering from domestic violence, single women over 50, essential and key worker affordable rental.

As a member of the St Vincent de Paul Society and the current Diocesan President I can also confirm that we are hoping to be able to purchase a number of these homes to enable us to provide some local accommodation to those in need as currently we have no other availability.
