UPDATED DA - Attachment 8 - Flora and Fauna Assessment
Native Foresters
4.3 Fauna assessment
The vegetation and habitats on Site A support the breeding and habitation requirements of a
moderate diversity of native fauna, including the Endangered Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus). A
fresh scat was detected in the north east of Site A. There are 13 WildNet and Wildcare records of
Koala to the west, north and south. A list of fauna species recorded during the survey is provided
in Table 5.
Small choruses of Vulnerable Wallum froglet (Crinia tinnula) were heard calling from ephemeral
ponds to the west of Eumundi Noosa Road and large populations are known to occur in the
groundwater dependent ecosystems to the east, however no froglets were heard calling on site
A. There were no ephemeral ponds noted on Site A, other than the drain near the entrance road.
There are records of Endangered Greater glider (Petauroides armillatus) within similar habitat
1km north of impact area (Hollett Road, Wildcare data), however scat detection survey is required
to confirm presence or absence of this cryptic species. Only two hollow-bearing trees were
identified on Site A, so whilst it may constitute a movement corridor for arboreal mammals, Site
A is considered unlikely to support a viable population of Greater gliders.
