CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

The U3A educational facility has been evaluated in terms of parking demand. The main points to note

are:

= the facility has 12 on-site car parking spaces and an agreement to use 15 of the church’s car
parking spaces (ie a total provision of 27 spaces)

== there are 47 marked on-street car parking spaces in the surrounding area

== within 200m walking distance there are approximately 60 unmarked on-street car parking spaces
of which less than 50% are utilised

== a fotal of 55 students and two staff members are on-site at any one time

= aparking provision of 7 spaces is required on-site as per the Council Planning Scheme consistent
with the parking available to U3A

= the parking rate recently adopted by Council for similar developments requires 24 car parking
spaces however this parking rate is not outlined in the Planning Scheme

= the U3A facility has a total parking provision in line with the Planning Scheme requirement and the
alternative requirement

= a mode share survey was conducted between 16 July 2018 and 20 July 2018

== the results of the survey show that on average 65% of students and staff drive to the site

== the peak parking demand of 39 vehicles or 144% of the capacity occurs on a Thursday morning WH-

== the average peak parking demand over the week is 27 vehicles or 100% of the capacity

«= the overflow from the peak parking demand can be accommodated by the existing on-street car
parking
