We wish to lodge an objection to Noosa Council regarding a Material Change of Use(MCU) to the duplex at 14 Ann St.
Reasons for our objection:
* we purchased our property at 22A St as a permanent residential property in 2017 in a predominantly residential zone
* the duplex at 14 Ann St was recently built using the Council process to establish a residence and was completed last year. Since then it has not been occupied. It appears devious for the owner to now apply for an MCU approval. It is inappropriate to build a property on a residential permit and seek to change that permit without any residency taking place.
* the Council’s Noosa Plan 2020 Short Term Accommodation (STA) strategy states that “Neighbourhoods of permanent residents should be protected from influxes of short term visitors whose interests and priorities are not compatible with residential amenity.”
(We have already experienced STA impact by visitors to a duplex opposite).
* if approval were given for MCU at number 14 Ann St, we believe it would set an undesirable precedent for others to apply.
