    Re: Walkways in Pomona between the Town Centre and the Showgrounds
    | refer to the above matter and appreciate the work that Heart of Pamona is
    undertaking concerning pathway networks in Pomona,
   As you might recall the inaugural Great Noosa Trail Walk in 2013 included an
    overnight stay in the Pomona Showgrounds, and the 100 odd walkers that year
   attended local attractions as part of the itinerary including the Noosa Museum, a
    show at the Majestic Theatre, as well as dining in local cafes and restaurants,
    contributing to local economy and community expenditure.
    The camping at the showgrounds was great, but unfortunately the walk in the dark
    along the road shoulder too and from town and the showgrounds along Factory
    Street was not very safe — particularly late at night, following a show at the theatre,
    and perhaps after a few “beverages” being enjoyed.
    Unfortunately as part of post event risk evaluation, | considered the risk too great for
    walkers and the event and have not returned to Pomona,
    | would support efforts to create a quality path network between the showgrounds
    and the town centre, including effective road and rail crossings, and would certainly
    revaluate the event to provide opportunity for walkers to enjoy an overnight stay in
    Pomona as part of future events.
