Attachment 2 - Noosa Biosecurity Plan 2026-2031
Asset protection
Asset protection is minimising the spread and/or minimise the impacts of established and
widespread invasive species on high value environmental, social or economic assets. High
value assets may include conservation areas, waterways, wetlands, riparian vegetation,
agricultural areas, community open space and residential areas. The species present in Table
4.7 are widely distributed across Noosa Shire, and their broadscale eradication and
containment are not feasible. It is reasonable and practical for land managers to minimise the
biosecurity risk posed by the species by managing spread and managing impacts on high value
assets. Table 4.8 outlines recommended management measures for asset protection.
Table 4.7. Asset protection plant species
Management Objective: Asset Protection – Invasive plant and animals
Outcome: Invasive species are managed to reduce threat to high value assets.
Note: Eradication of these species from the shire is unlikely.
