PLANNING & ENVIRONMENT COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 6 DECEMBER 2016
3.3.3. Signage
The signage generally complies with the Advertising Devices Code except for the quantity of
illuminated signs and 1 of the proposed pylon sign is sited within the Open Space Conservation
zone. A lighting report has been provided supporting the quantity of illuminated signs and
suggests it can meet the Planning Scheme provisions. However, a service station is typically well
illuminated and in this case it is imperative for the proposals viability (to be visible from the Bruce
Highway). However, it is considered the additional illumination is unwarranted and does not meet
the intent of the Advertising Devices Code, would create a halo and is not supported.
Furthermore, siting the pylon sign where it is intended for vegetation to screen any development
on-site is not supported.
