Subject: Proposed Development at 215 David Low Way, Peregian Beach
I wish to register my objection to the proposed development above on a number of grounds.
1) The negative impact caused by the proposed intense land use on the flow of traffic along the David Low Way
resulting in delays, accidents and increased travel time to private and public transport. The traffic generated by this
proposal will have to enter and exit the David Low Way by a steep side street with restricted sight lines. There is
also no room to construct a roundabout on the David Low Way to accommodate the traffic generated. Traffic lights
may need to be installed if this development proceeds. The public will be negatively impacted and disadvantaged.
2) This proposal will also cause congestion for traffic entering and exiting the existing new shopping centre and
hardware store on the same steep side street. This will also worsen the stoppages and queuing on the David Low
Way. Also the steep vertical alignment and geometry of the side street and its intersection with the above shop
carparks and the intersection with the David Low Way was not designed for this intense land use.
3) The rate payer funded development on Rufous St and the associated car parking facilities will be used as an
overflow car park and boat and trailer park by residents of the proposed intensive land use having no free space.
Also where is the obligatory “green space/park facilities” in this proposal?
4) In time Noosa Council will have to expect residents of this intense land use to want an alternative access route via
Rufous St. What guarantee do rate payers have that a future Council won’t relax the conditions on access?
5) If Noosa Council approves this application it will set a precedent on the development of residential subdivisions
between Peregian Beach and Lake Weyba. I believe this development is a precursor of such if it is allowed to
proceed.
Regards
Geoff Till
