10. OBoat Hire - RPEQ Design Report
Attached to the e-mail OBoat Hire - Proposed landing redevelopment - 222 Gympie Terrace Noosaville - Email 2 of 2.
3.4 Methodology The pontoon units and piles have been designed in accordance with the following referenced standards: AS/NZ 1170.2- 2013 Structural Actions- Wind Actions AS1664.1 -1997 Aluminium Structures- Limit State Design AS 3962-2001 Guidelines for Design of Marinas AS4997-2005 Guidelines for the Design of Maritime Structures AS2159 -2009 Piling- Design and Installation AS3600- 2018 Concrete Structures 3.5 Pontoon The structural design loads for the pontoons include dead load, live load, wind, wave, and flood load. The design of the pontoon deck slabs, and reinforcing was determined considering pattern live loading and wave loading. Pontoons have been designed to have a nominal freeboard of approximately 400mm (AS3962 – Clause 7.2.3.2). 3.6 Piles Pontoon piles have been designed for wave, wind, berthing and mooring loads in accordance with AS 3962 and AS 4997. In the absence of a site-specific geotechnical report, it has been assumed that the piles will be embedded into either dense sand or stiff clay. Steel piles are to be wrapped in a 12mm thick HDPE tube extending 2000mm below the riverbed (AS 3962 – Clause 5.3 (a)). Below this level piles have been provided with a corrosion allowance to achieve the required 25-year design life albeit the expectation is that a negligible amount of corrosion will occur due to the lack of oxygen present (Pile Design and Construction Practice Sixth Edition, 2014, M. Tomlinson, J. Woodward, P509, Section 10.4.2 - Steel Piles for Marine Structures). The top of the pontoon restraint piles (RL 3.2m AHD) has been set 2.61m above HAT). 3.7 Gangway / Ramp The gangway and ramp structures have been designed for the live loads specified in Clause 3.3.2. These structures will be constructed using aluminium extruded sections of grade/temper 6351-T5 or 6063 and flat plate sections of grade/temper 5083. All aluminium sections have been designed in accordance with AS 1664.1. 6|P a g e
