POLICY BACKGROUND
Noosa’s vibrant and diverse community is expressed through the dozens of community events and
celebrations held in the Noosa region, including those held during the November to January
‘Festive Season’.
The objectives of the Festive Season Events Grants Program include:
e Providing community organisations with financial support for festive season events and
celebrations;
e Building community skills and resilience;
e Providing opportunity for community organisations to leverage Council’s financial assistance to
obtain funding from other sources;
e Fostering diverse and strategically-located festive season events, which benefit the community.
COUNCIL POLICY
The purpose of this policy is to guide the administration of Councils Festive Season Grant
Program so that the grants:
e Are fairly and equitably allocated to organisations to deliver festive season events;
e Are allocated to events that are consistent with, and help achieve, Council's strategic goals
such as working in partnership with our community and building community capacity as
outlined in Council’s Corporate Plan 2014-2019;
e Align with the intent of the Local Government Act 2009 and the Local Government Regulation
2012, which state that (community) grants will be used for a purpose that is in the public
interest.
This policy applies to the Festive Season Grant Program and is to be read in conjunction with
supporting guidelines for the festive season event-specific funding program.
This policy does not apply to sponsorship, donations, advertising, naming rights and service level
agreements.
FESTIVE SEASON GRANTS
Successful applicants may be awarded a Festive Season grant for up to three years and must
provide an undertaking to deliver the event to the standard described in the original application.
The initial Festive Season Grant round will open in July 2015, and then come into line in timing with
the usual rounds of the Community Grants program thereafter.
