KEY
3 1. Main residence driveway, leading up to the proposed residence, with avenue trees guiding views over
surrounding paddocks and feature whilst buffering views to Cooroy Mountain as you approach.
2. Residence arrival and parking area, using turfgrid to create a seamless look of fitting into the
17
12 landscape while being a low maintenance, softer alternative to concrete right up to the front of the
house.
3. Concrete ATV track looping around the main residence, while working in with the existing contours.
9 Track provides access to all paddocks while tucking in to the side of the driveway. Track is low enough
3 11 below contouring around house that it is not fully visible from main living areas.
4. Proposed main residence.
13 13 13 5. Banked gardens to stabilise and buffer the side of the hill proposed residence sits on top of. Planting
13 to include local and native grasses, ferns and groundcovers, while shrubs including Lepidozamia and
Zamia add volume to the gardens. Clusters of boulders are added to create a natural look around the
gardens, to feel as if the residence is sat within the hill.
16 11
11 6. 1m high, black chainwire snake and wildlife fence sat in the gardens to keep any animals out of the
lawns surrounding the house. Fence will not be clearly visible from external views around the gardens.
7. Contoured, manicured lawns that spill out either side of the house and roll down to the banked
gardens. Landform has been shaped to create a flatter lawn either side of the tennis court, before
sloping sharply at a 1:3 gradient to flat, breakout space on top of the hill. The landform has been re-
10 10 10 10 contoured to enhance the feeling of being cut in and worked around the natural contours, in particular
6 5 3
on the northern side and tennis court.
6 8
8. Natural retaining boulders used to achieve the 1:3 gradient on the western side of the tennis court.
5 5 Boulders are positioned to look natural and as if the house has been cut in and around them. The
5 banked gardens grow around the boulders to enhance this.
9. Natural screening, shade and amenity trees added around the main residence, providing external
screening of the residence, while also maintaining key views from the internal. Trees are placed within
the lawns as shade relief while outside. Trees placed on the north east of the tennis court, encourage
4 cattle to come close and interact with the residence, while giving a place for them to have shade relief,
sratch and use feeding and water facilities, much the same as the other clumps located around the
9 5 property.
10. Black, stained hardwood cattle fencing, restricting access into the residence lawns. Electronic gates
10 6 are located where fencing crosses the ATV track,
11. Sunken ‘moat’ style garden around the tennis court 1.5m in depth, where cattle fencing is not located.
This allows for cattle to come close and interact with the residence, but restricts access to reaching the
7
7 house. Garden also provides safety from snakes and other wildlife without the use of fencing. By not
using fencing, it provides the feeling of the residence being immersed and sat in the farm paddocks
3 15 14 and landscape, while restricting cattle access. It also provides the feeling of not being ‘enclosed’ as
6 fences are not in immediate view.
12. Livestock paddock 1.
17 13. Livestock paddock 2, including sections of the ATV track and lawns the lead up to the ‘moat’ garden.
10 14. Livestock paddock 3.
12 5 5 15. Proposed firepit area.
16. Proposed tennis court.
6 3 17. Property boundary buffering gardens, using large native trees, shrubs and groundcovers
complementary to the existing species, provides buffering to the neighbouring residences
2
surrounding, while providing panoramic views around over Mount Cooroy and further surrounds.
5 Gardens are 20-30 metres wide to allow sufficient buffering, to protect, stabilise and expand on the
existing species.
