Properly Made Submission (Object No.32) - Geoff and Madeleine Fisher MCU12/0216
Subject: tt bcs 1192 MCU12/0216 Notice of submission Geoff and Madeleine Fisher From: Geoff Fisher Date: 2013-05-08T08:02:27+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council Geoff and Madeleine Fisher 11 Anembo Place Lake Macdonald 4563 8 May 2013 Mr Marcus Brennan, Assessment Manager Sunshine Coast Council Locked bag 72 Sunshine Coast Mail Centre 4560 Submission re MCU12/0216 Dear Mr Brennan, We wish to put forward our comments for you to consider in the assessment of the above Development Application for a Material Change of Use at 271 Lake Macdonald Drive. 1. The Notice of Commencement is attached to the fence at Gate 4 of the brickworks site on Lake Macdonald Drive. It is well back from the road next to other signs on the fence and has nothing to distinguish it as being a new sign that would be of interest to anyone other than people who worked at the site. 2. We believe notices alerting the public to a new or changed development must be prominently displayed and this sign is not. By the time the public were aware that there was an MCU lodged at Council for an increase in extraction of clay from the clay pit on Kennedy Drive to be transported to the clay pits on Lake Macdonald Drive the ’comment period’ was already half over not allowing time for proper research into the impacts on locals. Further, locals who would be most impacted by the change in use (those on Hoy Rd, Lake Ridge Court and Racehorse Lane) would have no reason to ever drive by the brickworks and so would never have the opportunity to see the sign even if it were well displayed. 3. The very large volume of heavy traffic proposed on a 6 day basis for 2 years along a section of Lake Macdonald Drive. We feel this road is unsuitable to sustain this usage due to insufficient width, poor edging, no footpaths, and the daily use by people on foot (often with dogs), bicycles and horses. 4. Noise and dirt pollution caused by the traffic internally and external on public roads. 5. Not sufficiently stable road base for the proposed load bearing traffic. At present the road surface often breaks up, especially during wet weather spells, due to local traffic usage. 6. We question why the proposed road structure within the property and the access/egress points are already being upgraded to accommodate the proposed truck movements, before the application has been discussed, much less granted by the Council. 7. We also question whether the removal of such a large amount of soil from an area that has been subject to flooding, will exacerbate this problem, or cause bigger changes to flooding issues further downstream of the proposed excavation site. We hope Council will take these issues into consideration when reviewing this application. Yours sincerely, Geoff and Madeleine Fisher
