Letter to Noosa Council re proposed Noosa Civic expansion
Tuesday , February 4th 2015.
To whom it may concern,
I am a resident of Noosaville and I wish to put forward my thoughts in regards to the proposed Noosa
Civic expansion. I am not affiliated with any community groups or organizations and the following
thoughts are my own. I share them with you in hope that they will add to the current dialogue and assist in
your decision-making.
I believe that we are at an important cross roads and I'll be upfront to say that I'm scared that if the
expansion of No os a Civic goes ahead, the opportunity for the revitalization of other areas of No osa,
namely Noosa Junction, will be lost. In my opinion all options for the revitalization of No osa Junction
should be considered before contemplating the expansion of Noosa Civic because the long-term benefits
to the community would be greater. The revitalization of Noosa Junction could offer real a point of
difference and be the experience that locals and visitors seek. Noosa is already well serviced with large
supermarkets and expanding an already adequate shopping center is not the answer to the issues that
affect Noosa.
I will attempt to explain what I mean by drawing on a recent experience to do so. Apologies in advance if
it will takes a while to get there, but please hang in there.
I posed a series of questions to a group offamily and friends the other night. We have all lived and
experienced other places in Australia and around the world but we all call Noosa home now.
