The far northwest corner of the subject land was wetter and appeared less disturbed. Native species
were more common in the mid- and ground-storey in this part of the site and included Acronychia
imperforata (beach acronychia), Alyxia ruscifolia (chain fruit), Blechnum indicum (swamp water fern),
Baloskion tetraphyllum subsp. meiostachyum (swamp foxtails), Christella dentata (creek fern),
Elaeocarpus reticulatus (blueberry ash), Gahnia sieberiana (sword grass) and Pteridium esculentum
(common bracken).

3.2 Council Reserve
The vegetation within the Council reserve was also mapped as RE12.2.7. It was in a less disturbed
condition than the adjacent subject land and was in better health and supported greater plant
diversity, particularly in the ground and mid-storey. The subject land by comparison generally only
supported a canopy of native species, with its ground and midstorey consumed by introduced species,
particularly the vine Chonemorpha fragrans (frangipani vine).

Common tree species on the Council land were Eucalyptus robusta (swamp mahogany) Melaleuca
quinquenervia (paperbark teatree) and Glochidion ferdinandi (cheese tree).

A subcanopy was present and included a number of species not observed in the subject land. These
species included Banksia integrifolia (coast banksia), Endiandra sieberi (corkwood), Mischarytera
lautereriana (corduroy tamarind), Mischocarpus australis (red pear fruit), Notelaea longifolia (long-
leaved mock olive) and Syzygium oleosum (blue lilly pilly).

The ground layer included Baloskion tetraphyllum subsp. meiostachyum (swamp foxtails), Dianella
caerulea (blue flax lily), Gahnia sieberiana (sword grass), Hibbertia scandens (trailing guinea flower)
and Ottochloa gracillima (graceful grass). Other species recorded in this area are provided in
ATTACHMENT C.

Of the seventy-nine species recorded in the council reserve, sixteen were introduced species and three
were non-indigenous but native species.

Adjacent to the Council reserve was a narrow fringe of mangroves along the inter-tidal zone of Weyba
Creek. Component species included Avicennia marina var. australasica (grey mangrove), Bruguiera
gymnorhiza (orange mangrove) and Rhizophora stylosa (red mangrove). Phragmites australis
(common reed) was also present along the landward edge of the inter-tidal zone.

3.3 Threatened Flora and Threatened Ecological Communities
No threatened species were recorded on or adjacent to the subject land (during the previous and
current surveys). No EPBC Threatened Ecological Communities occurred in or adjacent to the site.
The subject land is highly disturbed with a small area of potentially suitable habitat for some of the
threatened flora occurring in the northwest corner of the land. The habitat for these species and an
assessment of the likelihood of their occurrence on the site is provided in Table 4.

Of the 35 locally significant plant species for Noosa Shire, two were recorded on the site:

     •    Acacia flavescens (recorded in a previous survey but not the present survey); and
     •    Mischocarpus australis (recorded in this survey, but not the previous survey), on both the site
          and the adjoining Council Reserve.

Known records and suitable habitat indicate that it is unlikely the other significant species occur on
the subject land or immediate surrounds.
