“Two call-types were recognised in the data set. These were identified to Miniopterus australis and an
undifferentiated group composed of Myotis macropus and the Nyctophilus genus.

Sixteen calls were recorded from M. australis, with 11 calls recorded on 27th April and five calls
recorded on 15th May.

Fifteen calls were allocated to the M. macropus/Nyctophilus spp. group, nine recorded on 26th April
and the other five on 27th April. Up to three Nyctophilus species potentially occur in the study area,
including: N. bifax; N. geoffroyi; and N. gouldi. Calls recorded over open water or near bridges, culverts
and other potential roost sites are most likely from M. macropus; whereas calls recorded away from
water (e.g. in forested sites) are more likely to represent Nyctophilus spp.”

Hair samples submitted to Barbara Triggs (hair/scat expert) with the hair sample confirmed as Long-
nosed Bandicoot Perameles nasuta.

By way of summary, Table 6, illustrates the numbers of species recorded for the site, Council land,
Surrounds (noting this is a large area), the previous (2006 survey), the total (for each group) and total
for this survey (to show level of effort/additional species recorded). Refer ATTACHMENT F for full
species list.

4.5 Pest Species
Three pest species were recorded, comprising one amphibian (cane toad), one reptile (house gecko)
and one mammal (dog) (refer ATTACHMENT F). The subject site was inundated by cane toads.

4.6 Threatened Species
As described previously, several sources were used to determine known or likely occurrence of
threatened fauna (i.e. species listed under the Commonwealth EPBC Act 1999 and/or the Regulations
of the Queensland NC Act 1992). The Biodiversity and Conservation Values Report (DEHP, 2019) has
also been considered and applied to the assessment.

The tables in Section 2 lists the species targeted during the site inspections that are either known to
occur or with the potential to occur. Consideration during the field surveys was given to all species
listed. Based on known records (within 5km), and potential to occur, the habitat for these species and
further assessment of the likelihood of their occurrence is provided in Table 6. For completeness,
although there are no known records, Table 7 provides consideration of other species that are
identified in the general/broad Commonwealth database.

Habitat, distribution and ecology information for species are largely taken from the Commonwealth
species profile database (and associated references), the State (DEHP) species profile information, and
personal experience/knowledge.
