Dear Sir, ~
I am a concerned neighbour to this proposed development.
I have a unit-21 in Noosa Shores.
It is on the top floor and abuts this area of land.
Currently, the noise from the restaurants next door can cause occupants to wake/or have trouble
getting to sleep in my unit. I am concerned that an increased occupancy in the open area will further
interfere with the enjoyment of my unit.
I note the sound report and wonder whether any consideration has been made of the unbuffered
noise to the upper units in Noosa Shores. The ground units have a fence and bushes to partially
offset the noise next door but there is no such barrier for units such as mine.
I am concerned I may need to fit sound proofing in the glazed areas or air condition the bedrooms
on that side. The windows need to be open especially in summer for ventilation and cooling as that
side faces the western sun so glazing may help soundproofing but wouldn’t be effective in summer
as the windows would be open.
I acknowledge the cafes add to the character of the area, however, existing landowners should not
have to bear any loss associated with the proposed development.
Would the developers be prepared to facilitate soundproofing in the units to be affected?

Any barrier on their side of the park would need to be solid and would detract from having an
outside development. Any barrier over windows in Noosa Shores would block the view of the park
which is part of the appeal and value of units such as mine.
The most effective way and one I have used in developments I have been involved with would be
fitting air conditioning to the bedrooms and a curfew on music of say 10 pm-although the latter
often leads to tension as it’s hard to police.
I would appreciate your consideration of my and other owners concerns about this expansion of
facilities beside us.
As a past, present, and future owner in Noosa I am looking to the Council to find a balance
,
between the positive outcome for shop owners and the potentially negative impact on existing
owners of adjacent units in Noosa Shores.
Yours faithfully,
Dr Stephen Booker
