Properly made submission (object) Rob Dick MCU13/0087
Subject: SK BCS 1192 MCU13/0087 Coles Development Application additional info - Noosa Heads From: Rob Dick Date: 2013-10-17T23:55:01+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council To whom it may concern, Sunshine Coast Regional Council. Further to the comments that I have already submitted in relation to the Coles Development Application in Noosa Heads, it has come to my attention that part of the application includes the creation of an access road that encroaches upon or is adjacent to part of what is currently Pinaroo Park. As local residents and regular users of Pinaroo Park, my family and I strongly object to any excision of park land, the removal of trees and vegetation and incursion on the amenity of Pinaroo Park. We do not believe there is any good reason should a huge private company like Coles should be allowed to impose upon public space and reduce the amenity of a public park. In fact, it is outrageous to think that such a thing is even being proposed. We urge Council to not allow any excision of Pinaroo Park land or significant loss park of vegetation and amenity. Please pass these comments on to the responsible Council officer for consideration. We would appreciate some form of acknowledgement that our comment has been received and will be taken into account. We would also appreciate any further information Council can provide on an ongoing basis in relation to the progress of the Coles application. Thank you. I refer to the application by Coles to redevelop the current Noosa Heads Bowls Club site in Noosa Heads. My family and I live in Sarah Court, Noosa Heads, which is a short walk from Pinaroo park and Noosa Junction. Like many people in the local area, I use Pinaroo Park on almost a daily basis to exercise my dogs and as a thoroughfare to and from the shops and amenities of Noosa Junction. I understand that the Coles application is currently open for public comment and my family and I would like Sunshine Coast Regional Council to take the following concerns into account in its consideration of application. 1. We are concerned that the proposal will change the use of the land from recreational to entirely commercial. We do not believe that the development proposal provides any clear benefits to community that outweigh the loss of valuable recreational space. While I am not a member of the Noosa Heads Bowls Club, I do visit the venue and use the amenities from time to time. 2. We are concerned that the commercial developments proposed duplicate existing businesses in the immediate vicinity and in Noosa Junction generally and that the proposed development will have a negative effect on existing small businesses in the area. 3. We are concerned that the development may have a detrimental effect on Pinaroo Park and its flora and fauna. There are already problems with rubbish spilling into the park from waste bins at the rear of the Noosa Fair complex, general littering by members of the public, and anti-social behaviour by intoxicated people, particularly on weekends. We believe that the Coles proposal to create more cafes, a take away liquor outlet and a tavern are likely to exacerbate these problems. 4. We are concerned that the applicant does not appear to offer any plan to address what are likely to be negative impacts arising from the proposed development, such as the likelihood of increased waste and litter spilling into the area and an increase in anti-social behaviour from intoxicated people. 5. We do not think that it is appropriate for the Sunshine Coast Regional Council to make a decision in relation to this application when de-amalgamation with Noosa is imminent. We believe that the decision in relation to this application should be deferred until after the new Noosa Council is established and should be referred to the new Noosa Council for adjudication. Please pass these comments on to the responsible Council officer for consideration. We would appreciate some form of acknowledgement that our comment has been received and will be taken into account. We would also appreciate any further information Council can provide on an ongoing basis in relation to the progress of the Coles application. Thank you.
