Dear Noosa Council
Re: Letter of Support for the Recycling and Renewable Energy Hub Vision
This letter is to provide in principle support to Noosa Council on their vision for transforming the
Eumundi Noosa Road landfill into a Recycling & Renewable Energy Hub. This vision is important as
it aims to move away from the linear model of waste generation to a circular and sustainable model
of resource recovery, recycling and regeneration.
We support Council in its efforts to seek funding assistance for this vision. As discussed, Kabi Kabi
Peoples Aboriginal Corporation (KKPAC)’s support on specific project activities and implementation
of the vision is subject to further engagement on cultural heritage and environmental impact
assessments undertaken with Kabi Kabi representatives early on.
As captured in the dedicated engagement sessions between KKPAC and Noosa Council on this
project, a number of beneficial opportunities have been identified for Kabi Kabi across the
development of this transformational project:
• Cultural Heritage & Values Assessment;
• Assistance with regeneration of biodiversity offset areas and specifics; and
• Resource recovery of equipment useful for the Land and Sea Rangers.
Similarly, a number of opportunities have been recognised for additional collaboration between
KKPAC and Noosa Council’s Waste Management Team that will increase First Nations training and
employment outcomes as a result of this project:
• First Nations youth training and employment pathways via Reviva partnership and potential
Innovation Hub precinct; and
• First Nations introduction to commercial drone operation from Council’s accredited drone
pilot.

KKPAC look forward to continued engagement and collaboration with Noosa Council on this important project that prioritises our shared principles of custodianship of Country and protection of the environment. This project will ultimately see the amount of waste going to landfill substantially reduced, emissions reduced, soil health regenerated, and clean energy generated from the site. This will help ensure a long-term legacy of a healthy and liveable Noosa for future generations. Yours faithfully Norman Bond Chair
