3 The Characteristics of The Site and Surrounds

3.1. Site Characteristics

The subject site is an almost rectangular parcel of land located at 2 Halse Lane, Noosa Heads and is
described as Lot 2 on RP 865533, Parish of Weyba.

 

The site has an area of 7,989m? and is located at the end of Halse Lane which is located off the eastern side
of the Noosa Drive and Noosa Parade roundabout. Morwong Drive abuts the northern corner of the site with
the site linked to this road via an access easement.

A wide road reserve with public footpath, landscaped area and footpath is located across the Noosa Drive
road frontage. The site slopes gently upwards from the Noosa Drive frontage towards the rear eastern
boundary. A small but significant watercourse bisects the southern third of the site flowing in a south to
westerly direction. The area around the watercourse and directly to the east and south is well vegetated with
a range of native rainforest species.

The Halse Lodge Guest House is located along the eastern boundary of the site and is a two storey timber
clad building that was built in 1881. A number of associated buildings are located on site including two
accommodation buildings and an activities/ education facility known as Hollingsworth House.
