RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Chief Executive Officer to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 12 July 2022 and request the Chief Executive Officer to apply to the
Office of Industrial Relations for the appointment of Friday, 8 September 2023 as a special
holiday for Noosa Shire.


REPORT
Under the Holidays Act 1983, the Minister can appoint, upon request by a local government, a
special holiday within a district. Holidays of this nature are usually appointed for an annual
agricultural, horticultural or industrial show.

The Noosa Country Show has traditionally been held annually on the second weekend in
September with planning underway for the 2023 Noosa Country Show on the weekend of 8-9
September 2023.

Requests for the appointment of a special holiday for 2023 are required to be submitted no
later than 30 July 2022. After consultation with the Noosa Show Society, it is proposed that
an application be made to the Minister to appoint Friday, 8 September 2023 as the Show
Holiday for Noosa Shire for 2023.
