Project No. PG-2096 Page | 11 March 2023 Ref: PG-2096, 2022-11-03, GR VER 3 Keith & Jeannette Ince – Geotechnical Stability Assessment - Proposed Residence, 22 Arakoon Crescent, Sunshine Beach Retaining Walls Structural retaining walls will be required to support the excavations. The walls should be structurally designed in accordance with the recommendations outlined in Section 8.0 of this report. in the fill platform are not recommended for the site. 11.0 RESTRICTIONS/PRECAUTIONS 11.1 General Good hillside engineering construction practice is considered mandatory during development of the site for the proposed new residence. The notes and illustrations attached to this report outline some typical hillside construction guidelines including, earthworks, erosion control and drainage practices for hillside areas which should be taken into account as applicable. Furthermore, in order to ensure long-term stability of the site upon development, the following restrictions/precautions should also be taken into account. 11.2 Construction Recommendations The proposed residence would be suited to a structure either on posts or a slab on ground with a fully suspended floor, where not supported by a structural retention system. This type of construction would reduce the amount of earthworks necessary to prepare a building platform and the extent of retaining systems required across the site of the proposed house. Retaining structures should be designed by an experienced Structural Engineer. 11.3 Foundations Foundations for any structure proposed to be constructed on the sloping terrain must take into account potential lateral loading due to potential soil creep. 11.4 Drainage Suitable drainage provisions are essential in the development of the overall site. Adequate subsoil and surface drainage should be incorporated in retaining walls and driveways and along the crest of the batters. Any stormwater discharge points should be suitably protected against scour and erosion. All roofwater and any other runoff from drains on the site should not be discharged on the site, but should be taken to tanks and released via piped conduits downslope and clear of the building envelope and existing fill batters. Suitable spoon drains should be provided along the top and toe of all batters and the access driveway. Subsoil drains should also be provided in areas where seepage may be encountered.
