Page 19
SRZ 2.56m radius TPZ 6m radius Site Map Observations 15th October 2020 There is build up of debris and rubbish around the base of 2 3 4 5 6 and there has been an alteration in the true ground level. There are limbs that are hyper extended and need future proofing. There is across all trees identified paving across the root plates and there is some disturbance of this paving as you would expect from all these species. All trees identified appear in fair health considering the urban environment they are within the already identified restrictions. Prior to construction there will need to be root plate and canopy protection implemented. 30th November 2020 Due to change in design for engineering compliance reasons and the driveway construction this has altered the Tree Protection Methodology and driveway design. Specifically, for Trees 2,3,4. This entails a suspended slab over the SRZ for these trees which takes all incursion into the SRZ of the driveway out of the equation to prevent compaction and root plate disturbance. Also for Trees 5 and 6 there due to the need to raise the soil level by a minor height of one sleeper for drainage purposes we have had the engineers design a free standing retaining system to protect the truck and root plate collar from soil build up . These changes are reflected on the new Engineering drawings shown below. Engineering Drawings
Page 20
Tree Protection Methodology
All tree protection is as identified in AS4970-2009 and all pruning works to also
adhere to AS4373-2007. Prior to any excavation works in preparation for
development works as identified in the supplied plans, these conditions must be
implemented by ATCAC’s Level 5 Arborist (Project Arborist) prior to works
commencing,
1. Tree Protection Exclusion Zone fencing and signage as per AS 4373-2009
2. Removal of all material and non-historic soil from the Tree Protection Zone
(TPZ)
3. Trees 2 3 4 5 and 6 at the outer limits of the SRZ prior to any excavation works
a root barrier is to be installed to a depth of 1000mm with bentonite clay in
the base of the trench and back filled with bedding sand. All excavation to be
done by a Vacuum Excavator. This insures not root damage into the SRZ by
excavation works outside the SRZ.
4. Mature forest blend mulch to a depth of a 150mm minimum on the TPZ on all
trees
5. Maintenance pruning on all weight burden limbs that may be impacted
throughout the works to be performed by Level 3 Arborist under direction of
the Project Arborist and as per AS 4373-2007
Page 21
6. The Project Arborist must be present while the construction works happen to
ensure tree protection protocols outlines
7. Once the timeline of the project is determined the suitable inspection
intervals to be defined by the Project Arborist
8. All design plan alteration that may impact on the identified trees the Project
Arborist needs to be consulted prior to these works being implemented.
9. Monitor trees at all critical stages and alter the tree protection and tree health
methodology accordingly.
