We would like to submit a letter of support for the Myall Street
development MCU14/0056. We have lived and worked in Cooroy for over 12
years and have a strong connection with the town with family and friends
that have lived here for decades.

This development ticks many of the boxes for what our growing town needs
including:

· A car wash – many of us are on tank water and have to go to
Noosa to get our car washed, this development will enable the money to
stay locally as well reducing costs of travel for locals as they will
not have to drive so far

· Caravan parking and overnight stays – we have a family of
“grey nomads” (three of our parents are currently caravanning) and they
all say that Cooroy is the type of place they would normally stop. It
is something that has been needed for many years in Cooroy for both the
caravanning and RV contingent but also as there is currently a shortage
of affordable tourist accommodation in town.

· Information booth about Cooroy – Cooroy has so much to offer
and it is fantastic that there will be an area designated to promoting
the town and further afield to both people passing through (they might
come back if they know what’s on offer) and to those who are staying.

· Another petrol station – while we have two petrol stations
their pricing is often higher than others in the region. A third petrol
station may actually force some competition and see price reductions
providing benefits to residents and visitors alike.

· Utilising a tract of land that has sat idle for decades and
that is in a position that it is ideally suited for this use as it will
have little impact on the majority of residents and is close to the
highway so is unlikely to substantially increase noise or traffic.

· Attract travellers off the Bruce Highway – it might entice
them to come stay and/or come back to visit.

The developers are also retaining a big portion of green space which
will be in keeping with the area and continue to provide an attractive
green feel to the entry to town. In our opinion, the developers also
have a demonstrated track record of doing the right thing by the
community and so we believe they will do a great job of this
development.

Regards
