EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The development application is for an ‘other change’ to an existing development approval (Council
ref: 2005/638) to expand an existing waste disposal and recycling facility at 561 Eumundi Noosa Rd
Doonan (Noosa Landfill).
The application proposes to expand the landfill’s resource recovery area which is used to drop off
and recover steel, concrete, and green waste among other materials. The area also includes an
(High Efficiency Sediment) HES basin and comprises a small pocket of remnant vegetation being
approximately 1ha area.
The proposed expansion seeks approval to remove remnant vegetation to facilitate the repositioning
and expansion of the existing HES basin into the northwestern corner of the site, to assist in the
creation of a new resource recovery area and earth mound pad. The new resource recovery area is
aimed at providing additional space which enables a safer and a more functional operational area
for both Council and the public who are permitted access to this area.
