REPORT
Background
The 2016 Noosa Social Strategy recommends the development of a Community Health Plan. This
plan will review Council’s current legislative health prevention role and assess opportunities and
options for Council to support the preventative health strategies and objectives of World Health
Organisation (WHO) and the Commonwealth and Queensland Health Departments.
The Plan will also identify the various roles key stakeholders (including Council) currently have
within the broad health sector, and how these key stakeholders can better work together to achieve
positive community health and wellbeing outcomes.
This process will include:
reviewing the Noosa Local Government Area (LGA) profile in terms of demographic, social
determinants and health status;
comparing Noosa LGA profile data with the State population profile data and identify;
reviewing government (state and federal) strategic directions and resourcing policies;
an audit of existing health services within the Shire;
a review of communicable and non-communicable (chronic) health data within the Shire;
identifying gaps, duplications or opportunities for partnerships in the health area;
identifying key elements of community wellbeing;
development of strategies that provide mechanisms that identify and respond to local public
health needs.
