PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 25 MARCH 2014
The site straddles the Noosa and Sunshine Coast local government boundaries and is affected
by both corresponding planning schemes. The location of the local government boundaries and
the applicable planning precincts/zonings are shown below:

4.4 Surrounding Land Uses
The land abuts a mix of residential, rural, open space conservation and community infrastructure
land uses. A section of the Noosa National Park is adjacent the northern boundary, together with
a number of parcels of Bushland Reserve associated with the Noosa Business Centre and a
residential estate accessed via Lake Entrance Boulevard. The Noosa Business Centre sits
further afield, with Noosa Civic shopping centre accessed approximately 1.5km to the north along
Walter Hay Drive. A number of detached housing lots along Lake Entrance Boulevard/Aspera
Place also abut the northern boundaries of the site, though there is no road link from that estate
to the subject site.
In its north-eastern corner, the site almost entirely surrounds an allotment containing the Noosa
airstrip. The airstrip is a low-key facility used by private pilots and small commercial operators
and does not provide a commercial airport facility.
Directly to the west of the site are rural residential lots accessed via Hollett Road and the Noosa
Par 3 Golf Course. A large (321.9ha) Council-owned allotment sits to the south-east of the site.
The Noosa refuse station is located in its south-eastern corner but the majority of the lot is
undeveloped and a portion is dedicated as nature refuge (known as Weyba Nature Refuge).
Lake Weyba is directly to the east of the site. Weyba Downs residential estate is further afield to
the south-west and comprises a mix of rural-residential and rural lots.
Two large allotments sit directly adjacent the site’s south-eastern boundary and contain detached
houses and visitor accommodation developments (cabins), known as Eumarella Shores and
Lake Weyba Cottages. The majority of the Eumarella Shores property remains undeveloped and
is dedicated as nature refuge (Tainsh’s Nature Refuge).
