Candidate A: Private Property, Lot 9 on RP181850, 91 Kildeys Road, Cootharaba.

Candidate A comprises the erection of a 40 m monopole on 14.3 ha parcel of land within
the ’Boreen Point North, Kin Kin & Cootharaba Locality -
                                                                     Rural Zone’ under the Noosa
Plan 2009. The property is heavily vegetated with large mature gum trees and contains an
existing residential dwelling.

A 40 m monopole in the location of Candidate A would not provide adequate coverage to
the targeted localities throughout Boreen Point North and Cootharaba. This is because
some of the existing nearby gum trees exceed 40 m in height and therefore the antennas

would not have clear line of sight to the targeted dwellings or the Boreen Point facility
(required for transmission purposes). In addition. this candidate would be in close proximity
to multiple residential dwellings which align Kildeys Road and would require the removal of
remnant and koala habitat vegetation.

Pursuing this candidate was deemed unnec~ssary given that Candidate C provides a
more appropriate option in terms of achieving NBN’s coverage objectives, and will not

require vegetation removal. Furthermore, the land owners were unwillng to agree to
commercial terms to enable the developme’nt. For these reasons Candidate A was
discounted.

Candidate B: Noosa Shire Council Property, Lot 4 on RP803972, 304 Lake Flat Road,
Cootharaba

Candidate 8comprises the erection of a 40 m monopole on a 36.5 ha parcel of land within
the ’Boreen Point North, Kin Kin & Cootharaba Locality -
                                                                     Rural Zone’ under the Noosa
Plan 2009. The property is owned by the Noosa Shire ’Council and is currently used for
Waste Treatment purposes.

A 40 m monopole in the location of Candidate 8would provide adequ.ate coverage to the
target d Idcalities througho t Boreen Point North. However it would be in proximity to a
number of residential dwellings and would require the -removal of a large portion of
                                                                                  .

vegetation for both the access track nd compound area.

Pursuing this candidate was deemed unnecessary given that Candidate C provides a
more appropriate .option as it will not require vegetatic:m remQval and ’provides a better

’separation from ’community sensitive locations. Furthermore, the land owners were
unwilling to agree to commercial terms to enable the development.. For these’ reasons
                                                      .. . . .

GafJdidate"8 was discounted.
                                                             ’
                      .

Can idate C: Private Property,.Lot 2 on RP126723, ’153 Lake Flat Road, Boreen Point
North.

monopole 011 land within the ’Boreen Point North, Kin Kin & Cootharaba Locality -
                                                                                             Rural

forestry and logging and also contains an ancillary shed:in the centre of the site.
                                                                 "

Candidate C will be suitably located on a site that contains similar infrastructure such as
the existing energex electricity network which runs from north to south on the subject site
(approximately 20 m east of the proposed facility). Candidate C has been sited an
appropriate separation distance from environmental and community sensitive locations, as
it is located within proximity to only three (3)residential dwellings within a 500 m radius.
