5.2    Site Selection
The proposal site was selected as it met the NSN Co coverage objectives. As discussed
in Section 3, a number of candidates were examined within the search area which
resulted in the chosen candidate at 153 Lake Flat Road, Soreen Point. Furthermore, the
reasons for selecting this site are as follows:
   . The site is appropriately located within a rural area which is characterised by
       agricultural properties, heavily vegetated areas and large rural-residential
       allotments;

   . The site has already been significantly modified and contains similar infrastructure
       such as the energex electricity network, which runs from north to south through the
       property (approximately 20 m east of the proposed facility);
   . The existing use of the site for forestry and logging purposes would not be
       compromised by the proposed facility;
   . The proposed location provides an adequate separation distance from community
       sensitive land uses and is located in proximity to only three (3) residential
       dwellings within a 500 m radius;
   . The proposed facility is located a sufficient buffer distance from environmentally
       sensitive locations (approximately 900 m from the edge of Lake Cootharaba) and
       no   signifi~nt vegetation removal will be required;
   . The location provides line of sight to other planned sites in the NSN wireless
       network specifically Soreen Point, Coondoo West and David Cootharaba (Davis
       Road Cootharaba); and

   . The siting of a Telecommunication Facility on this site will meet coverage
       objectives for the area; and
   .
       V!sual impact will be minimised given the presence of mature vegetation
       surrounding the site which will assist with visually integrating the monopole within
       its surroundings and reducing the visual dominance of the structure.
