2.3.4 Vegetation Hazard Class 16 – Mixture of urban classes
Vegetation Hazard Class 16 (VHC 16) comprises all areas of regularly maintained lawns and
residential gardens typical of the residential land uses to the west to south of the site. VHC 16 is
described by Leonard et al. (2014) as having a potential fuel load of 3 t/ha. Plate 10 depicts typical
conditions within VHC 16.

2.4 Vegetation external of the 100m assessment buffer
The majority of the vegetation surrounding the site has been previously subjected to high levels of
modification. This has resulted in the majority of the remaining vegetation in the landscape being
highly fragmented, discontinuous and comprised of narrow linear tracts of vegetation.
A large unit of vegetation mapped as an 80/20 split of regional ecosystem 12.3.2 flooded gum tall
open forest and 12.3.1 lowland notophyll vine forest is present to the north-west of the site. RE 12.3.2
is representative of Vegetation Hazard Class 02 which is described by Leonard et al. (2014) as
having a potential fuel load of 30 t/ha. RE 12.3.1 is representative of Vegetation Hazard Class 16
Rainforest which is described by Leonard et al. (2014) as having a potential fuel load of only 1 t/ha
and exhibits Low potential bushfire intensity irrespective of slope influence.
Plate 11 depicts the extent of vegetation in the landscape surrounding the site.
