2 SITE DESCRIPTION

2.1 General
The site measures a combined area of 27.65ha and is located north-east of the township of Cooroy.
This site has formally been used for extractive industry and currently supports cleared areas,
vegetated areas and areas previously exposed to bulk earthworks. Lake MacDonald Drive is located
along the site’s eastern boundary and the site is surrounded by rural-residential land uses to the
north, south, east and west. Developed residential land is present to the south-west (refer to Plate
4).

2.2 Topography
The site exhibits variable topography and ranges in elevation from 105m to 130m ASL. Several
ephemeral drainage lines traverse the site and a permanent watercourse flows east tom west
through the centre of the site. The previous land uses (extractive industries) and subsequent site
rehabilitation has resulted in the site having a highly modified/constructed topography with terraced
areas and constructed dams present within the site. Slopes within the site range from gentle to
moderate with varying aspects. A broad plain is present to the west of the site. Plate 5 depicts the
contour topography of the site whilst Plate 6 provides a 3D QLD Globe satellite image.
