ORDINARY MEETING MINUTES 16 SEPTEMBER 2021

      Attachment 1

ATTACHED IS A PETITION TO THE MAYOR, COUNCILLORS AND ALL OFFICERS OF THE NOOSA SHIRE
        COUNCIL

THE PETITIONERS ARE CALLING ON THE MAYOR, COUNCILLORS AND ALL OFFICERS OF THE NOOSA
SHIRE COUNCIL TO RESTORE THE COORAN HALL TO ITS FORMER GLORY AND REPLACE THE FIBRE
CEMENT SHEETING (WITH ASBESTOS) THAT WAS REMOVED FROM THE WALLS OF THE CORAN HALL
WITH FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING (WITHOUT ASBESTOS).

FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING (WITHOUT ASBESTOS) HAS ALREADY REPLACED THE FIBRE CEMENT
SHEETING (WITH ASBESTOS) THAT WAS REMOVED FROM THE OTHER WALLS IN THE COORAN HALL.
FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING (WITH ASBESTOS) HAS BEEN CONSISTANTLY USED IN COORAN HALL AS A
BUILDING MATERIAL SINCE 1926 AND ITS REPLACEMENT WITH FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING (WITHOUT
ASBESTOS) IS THE APPROPRIATE SUBSTITUTE FOR THE FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING (WITH ASBESTOS)
IT’S USE IS CONSISTENT WITH THE EARLY AND SIGNIFICANT LININGS OF THIS BUILDING AND IS
CONSISTENT WITH THE HERITAGE PRINCIPLE OF REPLACING LIKE WITH LIKE.

FIBRE CEMENT SHEETING PRESERVES THE HERITAGE AND REFLECTS THE ACTUAL HISTORY AND
THAT INTRINSIC VALUE IN THE FABRIC OF THE BUILDING ITSELF.

DON’T ALLOW NOOSA COUNCIL TO DESTROY THE HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE OLDEST HALL IN
THE NOOSA SHIRE BY PUTTING UP VEE J WALL PANELLING (MDF CARDBOARD).

DON’T ALLOW NOOSA COUNCIL TO DESTROY THE SUPERB ACOUSTICS OF COORAN HALL WHICH IS
ACCLAIMED AND APPRECIATED BY ALL ARTISTS WHO HAVE PERFORMED IN THE HALL, INCLUDING
       THE NOOSA ORCHESTRA.

GOOD ACOUSTICS REQUIRES SOUND TO BOUNCE OFF THE WALLS NOT BE ABSORBED, FIBRE
CEMENT SHEETING HAS ALREADY PROVED IT IS THE PERFECT MATERIAL FOR THIS PURPOSE AND
WILL RETAIN THIS INTRINSIC VALUE THAT THE COMMUNITY SEEKS TO MAINTAIN,
