The SIDRA analysis indicates that the proposed signalised intersection is capable of accommodating base
traffic volumes plus traffic generated by the proposed development at the year 2030. Indeed, it indicates
that the development’s impact is minor and is on the non‐critical approach.
As such, it is suggested that the development is not responsible for contributing funding to the upgrade.
4.5 Left‐In / Left‐Out Routing Impacts
Noting that site access movements will be restricted to left‐in / left‐out, and recognising that there are no
U‐turn opportunities within close proximity to the site, the following route options are available:
Entering Traffic:
- From the north will turn left from Elm Street into Pearl Street, then utilise Kauri Street to access
Diamond Street and approach from the east.
- From the south will turn right from Elm Street into Opal Street, then utilise Kauri Street to
approach from the east.
Exiting Traffic to the east will either turn left or right into Elm Street, depending on congestion at
this intersection and utilise either Pearl Street or Opal Street to return to Diamond Street /
Tewantin Road via Kauri Street.
It is recognised that the bulk of the development traffic will be generated by the convenience shop. For this
use, if the access is not convenient, these users will simply opt to utilise the other, existing, full‐line
supermarket in Cooroy.
