RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Senior Officer, Transport and Traffic to the Services &
Organisation Committee Meeting dated 12 June 2018 detailing the key outcomes of the Noosa
Traffic Advisory and Speed Management Committee meeting held on 4 April 2018.
REPORT
The last meeting was in March 2017, as the subsequent meetings were postponed due to the
absence of significant agenda items. This was agreed with the Department of Transport and
Main Roads.
The purpose of this report is to update Council on the key outcomes of the Noosa Traffic
Advisory and Speed Management Committee meeting held on 03 April 2018. Details of which
are in the attached documents.
One (1) significant speed review related issue was discussed during the meeting as set out
below.
1. Speed Review – Cooroy Noosa Road
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) implemented previously approved
changes to the speed limit on Cooroy Noosa Road, from 100km/h to 90km/h in March 2017.
Customers expressed concern to Council and DTMR in relation to this change particularly in the
Swift Drive area. DTMR and the Queensland Police Service have been monitoring the situation
for the past 12 months and reported to the Committee that there have been no crashes and no
further community complaints and consider the item now closed.
Finance
There are ongoing costs associated with traffic investigations in order to ensure a safe road
environment for our community. In most cases, safety improvements determined from these
investigations will be funded from operational budgets or referred for consideration in future
budget deliberations.
