RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Executive Manager to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 7 March 2017 and:
A.                       Enter into a new contract of employment with Mr Brett de Chastel, Chief Executive Officer
                         Noosa Council, for a further four-year term commencing 3 February 2018 and terminating
                         on 2 February 2022 with the same terms and conditions as the existing contract; and
B.                       Authorise the Mayor to execute the employment contract on Council’s behalf.


REPORT
The Chief Executive Officer, Mr Brett de Chastel was appointed by Council resolution dated 13
January 2014. Mr de Chastel’s contract of employment was for a four-year term commencing on
3 February 2014 and terminating on 2 February 2018.

Pursuant to clause 4 of the current contract, the Council and/or Mr de Chastel shall initiate
discussions to enter into a contract for a further term not later than nine months prior to date of
termination of the contract. In addition, Council will make a decision to finalise those discussions
not later than six months prior to the expiry of the term of the contract.

Mr de Chastel by letter dated 3 February 2017 notified Council of his desire to initiate discussions
for a further contract of employment.

Approval is sought from Council for the execution of a new contract of employment with Mr de
Chastel, Chief Executive Officer, for a further four-year term commencing 3 February 2018 and
terminating on 2 February 2022 with the same terms and conditions as the existing contract.

That Council note the late report by the Recruitment Consultant to the Ordinary Meeting dated 13
January 2014 and appoint Mr Brett de Chastel to the position of Chief Executive Officer of the
Noosa Council.

Finance & Risk

Provision for the salary expense will be included within the 2017-18 budget.
