To all our Councillors
Attached to the e-mail MCU14/0106 Submission NPM Object - Pugh Jeff.
To all our Councillors. I would like to register my strong objection to the proposed expansion of Noosa Civic Shopping Centre, for the following reasons. At present the Civic Centre has a number of vacant shops and as far as I am aware has not had 100% tenancy since opening. Noosa Junction has a large number of vacant shops despite the original developer of the Civic promising his research showed this would not be the case. Hasting Street has empty shops ,this being the main tourist strip. Gympie Tce. Has empty shops. Tewantin main shopping area has empty shops. I can not see how an expansion of the Civic can be justified when so many shops are vacant in the area and have been that way since the opening of Noosa Civic. The argument for employment is invalid as construction is the only real time employment will increase ,and that will be made up of local plus workers from other areas. As for having to travel to other areas for variety of shopping , people move to Noosa for our lifestyle when you move to the area you know that we have no major shopping centres, that is part of the appeal of Noosa . Do not come here to change Noosa into the place you chose to leave . Thank you for registering my objection, Jeff Pugh, 4 Furl St. Noosaville. 4566 Email [email protected] Phone 54556568
