Subject: The Calile Hotel Development - Serenity Close Noosa Heads From: Vicki Cathcart Date: 2023-08-17T07:22:31+00:00 To: Mailbox Council Mail You don't often get email from [email protected]. To Whom It May Concern I would like to express my objection to the above development on the grounds listed below. I realise that you may have many objections to look at, so I will keep it brief. 1. Traffic - The roads in this area are already problematic, and I see no plans for the Noosa Council to make the necessary changes to improve the situation. Serenity Close is too narrow, for the extra parking that would be necessary for the casual visitors that will use the Hotel's amenities. Added to that, the egress from Noosa Junction either through Grant St or Katerina Ave will add to the problems that we Permanent Residents already experience. Both streets are far too narrow for added traffic and with the many duplexes and apartments that have been approved, the added traffic is already hazardous. 2. Sewerage - Noosa has problems with the ability to cope with the sewerage, particularly when we have an influx of temporary visitors to the area. The channel on Banksia St is often reeking of the sewerage which obviously has a problem clearing. The outlet which opens to the ocean is at times releasing raw sewerage when occupation of holiday rentals is high. 3. Zoning - This area was originally zoned for Permanent Residential and therefore did not have the added infrastructure added when the development was first started. This type of Hotel with added facilities for casual guests for its restaurants, shops, spa, and pool facilities will bring extra through traffic and people that will cause a higher level of noise and disturbance. 4. Nature and Birds - With Noosa being listed with UNESCO, I find it hard to understand that more and more trees are being cut down, causing a disturbance to the fauna in the area. The abundance of trees, birds and native animals was what Noosa and its residents were once most proud of. These are my main points, but I believe they are of significant reason to be concerned. I do hope you reconsider the proposal and before you approve any more high end developments, you look at updating the infrastructure required for the added population.
