PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 14 OCTOBER 2014
indicative survey in 2014 which was carried out independently by d-sipher, a
professional and award winning Market Research organisation. EDV believes that
this survey showed a commonality of interest with the Noosa Shire, and
confirmed the very high support for boundary realignment.
EDV also commissioned Ted Fitzgerald to undertake statistical analysis based on
the 2011 census which confirmed the survey results about a community of
interest.
Council will also be aware that the Sunshine Coast council has flatly refused to
consider the EDV proposal. Minister Crisafulli has indicated that his decision to
refer a recommendation on the EDV proposed boundary change would be made
much simpler if both Councils agreed. He went on to say that in the case of one
Council disagreeing, the community case must be very strong and compelling.
EDV believes the case is compelling, and this is addressed in the body of the
submission.
Clearly for EDV to go forward, we need support from the Noosa Council. Inter
alia, it would be of benefit to have a commitment to the principles of Community
of Interest and a willingness to support EDV should the Minister see fit to make a
recommendation. In particular, we are seeking a public statement of support,
which would form an essential part of the submission to the Minister.
Thank you for receiving this Submission.
Yours Sincerely
Gohan Mele
