Requesting refusal of application Annels MCU12/0184
Subject: vac 870 MCU12/0184 Broiler Farm From: Ross Annels Date: 2013-12-06T00:27:03+00:00 To: Internet Mailbox Sunshine Coast Regional Council I write as a local resident and rate payer to voice my concern about the proposed broiler farm in West Cooroy. I urge you to follow the sensible advice already provided by SCRC planners and not accept the application. To vote in favour of this proposal, against the advice of planning staff and with no reasonable economic benefit to the region, gives the impression of decisions being made for inappropriate or illegal reasons. I would like to think better of my councillors than that! My concerns are : 1: transport issues - Top Forestry Road is not suitable for increased volumes of heavy vehicles in its current alignment and surface, and Old Ceylon Road and Belli Creek Road are likewise less than satisfactory for increased heavy traffic. I note there have been a number of fatalities on Belli Creek Rd in recent times, as well as a large number of accidents resulting from road conditions. Additional heavy vehicle traffic will result in further traffic risks and heavily impact on the requirement for maintenance expenditure. 2.negative impact of existing rural enterprises - the proposed activity will have a significant negative impact on existing rural economic ventures through the emission of chemically laden aerosols, dust and nutrients. 3. ecosystem damage - The proposed activity will impact significantly on ecosystem health downstream, particularly through eutrophication - the location is a very steep property prone to very heavy seasonal rainfall, with direct flows to Blackfellows Creek and the Mary River. 4. loss of amenity and health risks - There will be a considerable loss of amenity to properties in the region, as a result of odour, dust and noise. There is also evidence to suggest that similar operations elsewhere have a significant impact on the health stays of nearby residents. 5. very low economic benefit - There is very minimal economic benefit to the community or region, with inputs and transport provided by the contracting firm and purchased elsewhere, and very minimal labour requirements. Thank you for your consideration Ross Ross Annels [email protected] 61 407 489227 780 Cooroy Belli Creek Rd, Black Mountain, QLD, 4563, Australia rossannels.com cooroorainstitute.org
