GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING REPORT 17 MARCH 2025
The urban form and design respond to the flat topography of the site by creating visual interest
using differentiation in building façades through a range of textures, colours and styles.
A preliminary schedule of materials and finishes include a mix of external stone walls, screens,
and operable screens to be constructed from either timber or aluminium battening in a natural
colour tone. The ‘external timber structures’ relate to the rooftop terrace pergolas which are
intended to be constructed from recycle hardwood (below).
The design of the ‘corner site’ includes the ground level food and drink tenancies and external
seating which is setback from site frontages and addresses both Thomas Street and Gympie
Terrace which support an active streetscape outcome (Figure 10).
While the uppermost roof form presents as a more horizontal profile the most recent plans include
a number of recesses along the facia to Gympie Terrace which will assist with providing a degree
of articulation when viewed from ground level.
