Dear Assessment Manager,
I am writing to lodge an objection to the proposed development on the site of the Noosa Bowls club: app no MCU13/0087.
Noosa Junction at present has the feel of a village. The Mall development that Coles has in this area is well out of sight of the main street. This development would substantially alter the nature of Noosa junction. 
My objections to this proposal are as follows:
• Noosa Junction already has a significant number of empty shops. To add more retail space to this area would exacerbate this problem. More shops in the main street would be sacrificed if this corporate development went ahead. 
• The development is taking land from an adjacent park to build a road. Will the developer pay for this land? It currently belongs to us, the people of Noosa. It is valuable land in the centre of the town, and must not be given away without the consent of ratepayers.
• Parkland, such as the land intended to be taken from, Pinaroo Park will not be resumed once it is gone. A smaller development would not necessitate the theft of this land for loading purposes.
• Noosa Junction already has two Hotels and a Nightclub within 200 metres of this proposed hotel. A new hotel would undermine their businesses.
Summary: The population growth of this area has not been sufficient to warrant a significant increase in retail space in this area. Allowing this project to go ahead would have a negative impact on existing businesses. The proposal needs to be rethought in such a way that does not require the unfair acquisition of land belonging to the people of Noosa.
This is a matter for Noosa Council, and a decision should not be taken until the new Noosa Council is in place. It would then be up to that council to decide on the matter, particularly as it involves a decision about losing council land.
