INFRASTRUCTURE & SERVICES COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 17 JUNE 2014
9. MG Recruitment
10. Road Runner Traffic Management
11. Traffex (Aust) Pty Ltd
12. Verifact Traffic Control
The submission from Road Runner Traffic Management was deemed non-conforming as a
Tender Response Form was not completed. The remaining tenders were assessed and rated by
members of the assessment panel in accordance with the procurement probity plan evaluation
criteria. Although the submission from Get Directed Traffic Control & Labour Hire was included in
the evaluation, limited information was supplied by this tenderer and a price was not included in
their schedule for the supply of a vehicle and signage which does not suit Council’s operational
requirements for this service.
The evaluation of the offers identified the submission from Aaction Traffic Control Pty Ltd as the
most advantageous to Council. An added benefit of the offer from Aaction Traffic is a reduced
charge of $100.00 per day for signage vehicles for projects greater than three months and supply
of up to three signage vehicles free of charge for Council organised events e.g. Anzac Day
parades.

Finance & Risk
Traffic control services are required to manage traffic when undertaking works on roads with
funding sourced from the relevant Civil Operations and Capital Works budgets. As this is a
schedule of rates contract, the total price is dependent upon the quantity of work allocated to the
contractor. The proposed 14/15 operational budgets for traffic control services within Civil
Operations total $370,000. These budgets have been based on recent actual usage and current
contract rates. An examination of the tendered rates from Aaction Traffic Pty Ltd against two
recent invoices from existing suppliers indicates potential savings of 12-14% on current costs.
Traffic control required for capital projects is included with the overall budget for the project.
In their tender submission, Aaction Traffic has been able to demonstrate their capacity to supply
the services required under this contract and currently supply these services to other councils
and construction companies. As Council has no prior experience with Aaction Traffic, a
representation from Gympie Regional Council was contacted for a referee report as Aaction is
the current sole provider to Council. The referee report was very positive and indicated that
Aaction had developed a good relationship with Council, provided professional services,
employees are courteous in their interaction with the public and there had been no incidents to
date.
