Carpenters road, Cooroy


I write in support of Eco Cottages Pty Ltd’s application to develop a Social Housing project in the
township of Cooroy. Eco Cottages has been established in Queensland since 2007 manufacturing
high quality, innovative, sustainable modular homes.

Since being elected, I have become increasingly aware of the acute need for more social housing
stock in our region and I’m proud to be a part of the Palaszczuk Labor government delivering the
largest concentrated investment in social housing in Queensland’s history.

The project intends to provide a diverse mix of 33 individual small, fully furnished sustainable high-
quality homes, each with their own independent power supply, all of which will be sold to Not-for-
Profit organizations and or approved Community Housing Providers.

The site is well situated in proximity to the Cooroy Township and Business centre, providing easy
access for residents and services as well as low-cost housing for key workers.

I note the project already has considerable interest from multiple social housing providers, who have
provided undertakings to continue discussions with Eco Cottages should the project proceed.

I commend Mr Phipps and the team at Eco Cottages for their dedication to operating in a sustainable
manner and their commitment to provide homes for some of our State’s most vulnerable. I look
forward to seeing the project come to fruition and the first residents moving in.

For these reasons I urge you to give Eco Cottages Pty Ltd’s development application favourable
consideration and work with Mr Phipps to ensure the project goes ahead with as few delays as
possible.
